A long and important month is ahead of Wealdstone, a pivotal one that will play a big part in the club’s hopes of promotion out of the Ryman League Premier Division.

There are now only four important games left this month against four of the top teams in the division. If Wealdstone emerge with more than 10 points, they will sitting pretty at the top of the table come 2014.

To win, or at least draw, most of these games would establish the team as genuine promotion contenders. The team’s form of late has been pretty much perfect.

Coming up in the next few weeks are Kingstonian, Lowestoft, Maidstone and Bognor Regis - four teams also fighting to get out of this league.

While these teams might be flying at the top of the league, apart from Maidstone I don’t personally believe they have the strength and depth and finances to survive if they reached the Conference South.

If Gordon Bartlett strengthens the squad in January before the expected returns of Wes Parker and Lewis Putman before the end of the season, it’s hard to see how Wealdstone will not get out of this league with the squad the manager has assembled.

I genuinely believe that come the start of 2014 if Wealdstone are sitting in the top three with games in hand, this could be the year the club finally win promotion. Compared to previous years, with near misses in the play-offs and semi-final heartbreak in the FA Trophy against Newport, the squad is winning games that in previous seasons they would have lost.

The addition, of experience players such as Glen little, Scott McGleish and Chris Moore are just a few examples, players who will help the side achieve what is expected of them. The general belief is that this season is the best possibility the club has of winning the league compared to the gamble of the play-offs.

For anyone that hasn’t seen Little’s amazing solo goal from Saturday’s game against Dulwich I advise you to go check it out.

While others are thinking of what they want for Christmas, all I would like is three points from each game - that isn’t too much to ask it? All we can ask for now if for the weather to stay good as well, with no games being postponed or re-scheduled so that the good form can continue and the top position has Wealdstone’s name on it.
