So far Wealdstone have had two games called this off this month – and we’re still sitting at the top of the table!

A fixture backlog now meets the team as they challenge to stay on the top and get promoted out of the Ryman League Premier Division.

With recent results being a bit indifferent - a win against local rivals Enfield and then a rare home loss to Hampton & Richmond - Wealdstone are in a weird place right now. The most important thing is that they keep their fitness and concentration to maintain their position.

With the manager Gordon Bartlett making comments recently about wanting to reach 100 points to get out of this division, it does not allow for slip ups in order to get promoted. Will Gordon be looking to strengthen again with the bout of bad weather? A striker would be welcomed to ease the burden on the three centre-forwards the club has at the moment. A loan signing would be welcome before the evergreen Lewis Putman is back for the final month or so of the season.

With every game from now to the end of the season being important, is strength in depth and more players in a position not needed? The trouble from this though is trying to balance the books, making sure we stay within our budget while also making the best out of players we have available to us to play.

With January and February generally ruled out by weather, should clubs like Wealdstone at this level be allowed 3G pitches so combat the problem?

If these pitches were installed, we as a club would surely lose less games, increasing revenue and making sure that all games were completed on time. No more trips to Lowestoft on a Tuesday making sure the players can take time off work, instead the games can be played on a Saturday as planned.
