A fire broke out in a north London restaurant after “cooking was left unattended”.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters rushed to tackle the blaze at a restaurant in High Road, Willesden Green, in the early hours of this morning (June 27).

The blaze had broken out in the kitchen of the restaurant, which has homes above it.

There were no reports of any injuries at the scene, with the fire described by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) as “small”.

The blaze is believed to have begun after cooking was left unattended.

The LFB was called at 5.49am and took around an hour to extinguish the fire, with the incident under control by 6.41am.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Fires are more likely to start in the kitchen than any other room in the home.

"Cooking should never be left unattended on the hob or grill - if you have to leave the kitchen, turn off the heat."

Crews from Willesden Green, Park Royal and West Hampstead fire stations attended the scene.
