Middlesex lead by 49 runs after they rallied against Warwickshire to reach 89-1 at tea on day two of their County Championship Division Two at a stifling Lord’s on Monday afternoon.

Middlesex made inroads into the Warwickshire batting during the morning session on day two of the County Championship match at Lord’s – as wicketkeeper John Simpson took three catches to leave the visitors on 248-8 at lunch.

Fourteen wickets fell with nearly 400 runs scored on day one of the Division Two County Championship match at Lord’s between Middlesex and Warwickshire on Sunday.

Eoin Morgan was thankful to England’s “Mr Reliable” Chris Woakes and one moment of telling fortune which helped his team close out a thrilling four-run victory over New Zealand in Wellington.

Alastair Cook’s record-breaking double-century kept England in control of the fourth Ashes Test at the MCG.

The Ashes: Cook century lifts England

Wednesday, December 27, 2017

Alastair Cook completed his century in the last over at the MCG as he and Stuart Broad belatedly kickstarted their Ashes campaigns to put Australia under pressure at last.

England’s tenacity brought scant reward as centurion David Warner and his Australia captain Steve Smith carried the opening day of the fourth Test.

England failed to cash in on centuries from Middlesex’s Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow as familiar problems persisted on a fluctuating second day in the third Ashes Test.

England folded quickly in pursuit of a national-record chase as Australia took six wickets in under a session to go 2-0 up in the Ashes with a 120-run victory.

Joe Root took it upon himself to keep English hopes alive as his team tried to complete a remarkable reversal of fortune in the second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval.

Re-energised England produced a spirited revival with bat and ball but still trailed badly after three days of the second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval.

England at least defied expectations of an instant twilight collapse after Shaun Marsh’s century piled the pressure on them on day two of the second Ashes Test.

England struggled to vindicate Joe Root’s gamble to bowl first on a cagey first day of the inaugural pink-ball Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval.

It’s the hope that kills you.

England could perhaps cite one moment of minor controversy as mitigation as they moved to the brink of a resounding defeat in the first Ashes Test at the Gabba.

The first Test remains nicely poised after the second day of play at The Gabba, with Australia reaching 165-4 in reply to England’s first innings score of 302.

England made light of a trademark collapse to continue their domination of a Cricket Australia XI after Middlesex’s Dawid Malan became the second centurion of their Ashes tour.

Captain reflects on loss to Warwickshire

Middlesex captain James Franklin was left stunned by his side’s county championship defeat against Warwickshire.

In a remarkable end to a dramatic match, Warwickshire skittled Middlesex for 136 at Lord’s to claim their first win of the season in the Specsavers County Championship’s Division One by a thumping 190-run margin.

Defending champions Middlesex were frustrated at Lord’s on day two of their Specsavers County Championship match with Warwickshire.
