On entering Gilgamesh we were astonished by its vast size and for a Wednesday evening it was very busy which is always a great sign.

Gilgamesh’s décor is as well known as its cuisine.

It’s stylish and opulent and there’s no mistake about it is very likeable.

We were seated in round table a corner where we could see everything around us including the open kitchen (always reassuring).

After ordering our cocktails we were given a mouth-watering bowl of endamame beans to enjoy while waiting for our starters.

We chose the a la carte menu (there are also set menus) and ordered three starters.

Crispy squid which was fried in a light batter with chilli, garlic and pepper it was cooked nicely and the batter was nice and light.

The tempura prawns accompanied by seafood dim sum both dishes were served with a selection of soy sauces for dipping. Both were cooked nicely and the dipping sauces really complimented each dish.

We also wanted to try the wagyu steak tartare but was told it was off the menu. The maître saw our disappointment and went to the kitchen soon to return with a big smile and a plate of wagyu tartare.

This dish was amazing and melted in the mouth with a nice burst of fresh flavours.

Now completely relaxed and enjoying the ambience of Gilgamesh we were excited about what our main course will bring.

We ordered a Malaysian jungle curry and a Chilean sea bass plus two side dishes of seafood Singapore noodles and vegetarian noodles. Both main dishes were cooked and presented beautifully with the sea bass exceptionally good. The jungle curry had lots of content and nice spicy flavours both noodle dishes were nice and the portion size was good.

For dessert we both opted for the refreshing-sounding sorbets to cleanse our spicy palate.

It was a great choice as both were fresh and home made Pina Colada and Raspberry with Thai basil.

The service was impeccable throughout and the staff couldn’t do enough their knowledge of the menu and the different ingredients in each dish were impressive.

If you are looking for quality food and service then Gilgamesh is for you a true Asian fusion experience that includes sushi and dim sum.

A three-course meal costs around £55 per head for a magical Asian food experience.
