All are invited to the May Fair taking place at the Albert Community Centre
Families are invited to a community fun day in Queen’s Park to raise money for a renowned children’s charity.
The May Fair will be held at The Albert Community Centre in Albert Road, south Kilburn, with around 1,000 residents expected to attend.
The event, which starts at 9.30am, is for children aged two-11 but families are encouraged to come along.
More than 45 stalls run by local businesses to promote their products will be on offer, as well as a raffle competition with raffle prizes ranging from a luxury hamper from Gails Bakery, in Salisbury Road, to a bag from iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
There will also be guest speakers offering tips on nutrition while reading tents for children will also be available.
The event will raise vital funds for Kids Company.
Founded by Camila Batmanghelidjh in 1996, the organisation aims to provide safe practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children in London.
The charity, which has offices in Fordwych Road, Kilburn, has seen its services support around 18,000 children across London.
Koulla Constantinou, who works for Kid’s Company, and is helping to promote the event said: “This is a charity worth knowing about and the amazing work they do for vulnerable children in the capital. I have a great admiration for the charity and it’s founder and director Camila Batmangelidgh, money raised will go towards general running costs which always need funds.”
Ms Batmanghelidjh will be joined by the charity’s executive director, Jane Caldwell at the event along with former Oscar winning actress Glenda Jackson, the MP for Hampstead and Kilburn.
Well-known faces such as Robert Webb of Peep Show fame, women’s empowerment guru Lynn Franks will also be in attendance.
Ms Constantinou added: “The event is a force for good, to bring the community together, so come together and play all day”
The event on May 17 starts at 9.30am and runs until 6pm.
Tickets are £4 and can be purchased on the day.
