Bromyard Avenue outfit involved in thrilling tie against Teddington last time out

Andrew Wilson admits Shepherds Bush will be taking something of a step into the unknown when they visit Harrow St Mary's in the Middlesex County Premier Division on Saturday.

This weekend will see the first meeting between the sides since the 2015 campaign when they were both in Division Two.

Bush won the title that term to win promotion to the Premier Division and have remained their ever since.

St Mary's went up from Division Two last term to join the Bromyard Avenue club in the top flight, with the teams set to do battle on Saturday.

Skipper Wilson says that having not player St Mary's for so long, Bush's knowledge of their opponents is not perhaps as good as it once was.

But the captain of the Bromyard Avenue outfit says his team are aware they face another difficult outing this weekend.

"We haven't played against St Mary's for a few years, so we're not too sure what their side holds," admitted Wilson.

"We know a few of their guys from years gone by and will expect a strong side and another tough opponent."

Bush were involved in a thrilling encounter last weekend as their home fixture against Teddington dramatically finished in a tie.

The Bromyard Avenue side made 198-8 after opting to bat first, with Alex Blofield's knock of 43 the top score.

Figures of 3-38 from Sam Howell seemed to check Teddington's progress in reply, but the visitors seemed on the cusp on victory with the scores tied ahead of the final ball of the match.

Bush's Idris Otto-Mian and wicket-keeper Jack Brydon, though, combined for a stumping off the final ball to prevent the hosts from being beaten.

It was a thrilling end to proceedings and Wilson was delighted with how the Bromuard Avenue side coped in such a tense situation.

"I was very proud of the players for their nerve under pressure and determination," he added.

"It's been a common theme throughout the start of the season and it's very pleasing to see a side all fighting together."

It could be another thriller for Bush this weekend.
