Austrian PhD student Johannes Girstmair was one of 11 new entrants on Saturday as a field of 80 completed Gladstone parkrun.

The 26-year-old, who stopped the clock at 23 minutes 14 seconds, said: “I have just moved from Innsbruck to Kilburn, so it was great to get in touch with local people.

“Previously I would run on my own, but starting with so many others was a different feeling for me and highly motivating. It’s so easy – after a quick registration on the website, you print your barcode and then start running.”

Among the other newcomers at the weekly 5km event in Dollis Hill was Ryan MacBain, who comfortably beat his sub-25 minute target with a run of 23:36.

Carmel Lucid recorded a personal best to lead the women’s field in 21:04, with Poppy Lenton (21:42) second and Anna Diamantopoulos (23:42) third.

Katie Levy (23:49) was the fourth woman to finish, with Fiona Paterson (24:07) fifth. Liberty Sanders was the first junior runner home in 31:31, followed by Emily Harte (36:16).

Glen Turner was the first finisher overall in 17:34, with Kerr Millar (17:39) leading the juniors. Third-placed Danny Skeffington, who clocked 17:58, recorded the highest ranking using parkrun’s age and gender grading system.

Gladstone parkrun takes place at 9am every Saturday and is open to people of all ages and abilities. Registration is free at or email for more information.
