Having reached the mythical points total of 52 – and perceived safety – Harrow Borough are starting to look over their shoulders once again following a run of defeats.

The latest, a 2-0 reverse at home to Burgess Hill Town, leaves Borough just four points above the danger zone.

They have lost the last three, the last two to sides below them in the table, and are without a win in five.

It all means that their trip to play-off chasing Leiston tonight (Tuesday) takes on even more importance.

Harrow threatened early on Saturday when a Harry Newman cross was deflected over the bar

The Hillians’ first threat came from a right-wing raid, the ball played inside for Pat Harding to fire a 20-yarder that just whistled over the bar.

Marc Charles-Smith, playing as a makeshift centre-half, made a good tackle on the breaking Tyrell Richardson-Brown and then headed over from a Joshua Webb corner.

But that was all before Burgess Hill went ahead in the 30th minute with a calamitous goal from a home point of view.

Michael Bryan’s intended pass to Kurtis Cumberbatch was picked off by an opponent and the ball was transferred downfield with Richardson-Brown on the chase.

Luke Williams in the Harrow goal should still have dealt with the situation, however, he kicked thin air as the ball came towards him, and Richardson-Brown ran on to roll the ball home.

The striker added a second right on half-time. Again possession was lost and Richardson-Brown beat Williams from the angle.

A Joshua Webb 20-yarder went wide as the second half began, but it needed another fine Charles-Smith tackle to stop Lucas Rodrigues.

Harrow stepped up their play but in truth they never seriously threatened to breach the visiting defence. Michael Bryan had the best chance but he was narrowly off-target with an attempted lob from the edge of the area.

The game at Leiston is the first of two trips to Suffolk with Needham Market, another play-off contender, the destination on Saturday.

Their last home game of the season sees local rivals Hendon visit Earlsmead on Easter Monday.
