Herts/Middlesex One: Staines 46 Hendon 15

Hendon were overwhelmed by a physically larger Staines outfit, going down 46-15 away from home in Herts/Middlesex One in their final game of the season.

The visitors, still depleted by injury, took the initiative from the start but failed to get over the Staines whitewash.

Staines made the most of their let off, racing into a 17-0 lead with little over 20 minutes on the clock.

Hendon still hunted for their first score, with Paul Julian punching through their defence, aided by Mike Culhane and Donal O’Sullivan.

After a string of penalties in the Staines 22, Hendon centre Chris Kiyingi penetrated the defence to score out wide.

TJ O’Sullivan also scored a try for the visitors before the break, but Staines crossed for two of their own to lead 29-10.

Staines continued to control the game in the second half, but Hendon had the last word with Kiyingi crossing for the final score of the match as the visitors ended their term with a try to cheer.
