GB rower joins unversity students and secondary school students for fund day
Great Britain rower and Olympic gold medallist Will Satch MBE was in Willesden on Wednesday to help open the new Powerhouse Fitness North London store.
Satch officially opened the store, before watching teams from Cardinal Vaughan Memorial Secondary School and Roehampton University attempt to beat his 250m time on a rowing machine.
Though no one could breach Satch’s mark of 32.6s, Roehampton student Sam Stephenson came closest, clocking 35.8s to win a £50 Powerhouse Fitness voucher.
Both Roehampton University and Cardinal Vaughan Memorial Secondary School will also receive rowing machines from Powerhouse Fitness.
“As the longest established fitness equipment supplier in the UK, we were excited to have Olympic champion Will Satch officially open our new North London store,” said Powerhouse Fitness managing director Ken Reeve.
“With such success for team GB rowers at the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic games, and the upcoming 2017 Cambridge versus Oxford boat race, it’s fair to say many have been inspired to take up the sport.
“The student rowing teams, our potential future champions, taking part in a challenge to beat Will’s time made the day both fun and inspirational.”
