QPR are set to complete the £300,000 signing of Bristol City’s Luke Freeman.

QPR’s director of football Les Ferdinand revealed to the Times last week that he was optimistic a deal for the 24-year-old could be completed, and barring any last minute complications this deal will be rubber-stamped before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

Freeman, who made it clear to City’s hierarchy he had no intention of signing a new deal at Ashton Gate, has expressed a desire to move back to London and link up with Rs boss Ian Holloway.

Holloway initially felt a deal for the industrious winger would not be completed this month after various discussions with Bristol City, however Rangers are now edging closer to getting their man.

However, there has been no progress on QPR’s continued pursuit of Rotherham’s Danny Ward, with the two clubs still some way apart in terms of their valuation of him.

Ward’s former club Huddersfield Town recently tabled a £2m bid for the striker - who has scored 10 goals this season.

He told the Times: “I don’t think Ward will happen to be honest with you.

“Rotherham don’t want to sell him and we are looking elsewhere and have options.”

Holloway is keen to add an experienced striker to his ranks before the window shuts, and with a move for Ward still looking unlikely as it stands, he is exploring other options.

One of those is Fulham striker Matt Smith, who will be allowed to leave Craven Cottage if they are able to bring in a replacement.

Former Rs loanee Ravel Morrison will train again with the club on Monday, as he bids to earn a short-term contract.

While Morrison is short of match fitness, the Times understands Holloway has been impressed with what he’s seen from the former Manchester United youngster so far and is willing to give him a chance.

Serie A giants Lazio want to offload Morrison, and ideally want a fee for his services.

Elsewhere, as the Times revealed to you earlier this month, Nasser El-Khayati is set to depart Loftus Road before the end of the window.

A number of League One clubs have been monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation, with Oxford United expressing an interest in signing the Dutch playmaker on loan.

Holloway has told El-Khayati he is surplus to requirements and free to join another club, with the latter keen to move on.

QPR will also allow Karl Henry to leave the club on loan, should a permanent move not arise for him before the end of the window.
