QPR have finally wrapped up a deal to sign Luke Freeman from fellow Championship club Bristol City for £300,000.

Only last week Rs boss Ian Holloway said he felt a chance to sign the winger this month was “gone”, but director of football Les Ferdinand then revealed to the Times he was confident a move could be finalised before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline - which has now been completed.

The 24-year-old, who made it clear he had no intention of signing a new deal at Ashton Gate, has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Loftus Road.

Freeman scored 10 goals in 121 appearances for the Robins after joining from Stevenage in 2014.

Holloway said on the move: “I’ve been a great admirer of Luke and his creativity is something we’ll really feel the benefits of.

“He can play in three or four positions too, which is really beneficial for us.

“I think he’s a leader on the pitch too because of the way he always wants the ball – and I think QPR fans will love him for that because he will wear the Hooped shirt with pride.

“For me, he ticks all the boxes in terms of what I want. He’ll give QPR absolutely everything.”

Freeman is QPR’s third signing of the window.

Elsewhere, Olamide Shodipo has joined League One outfit Port Vale on loan until the end of the season.

Holloway recently revealed to the Times that he would allow Shodipo to go out on loan if he was able to bring another winger in before the transfer window closed, and with Freeman’s arrival now rubber-stamped that has paved the way for the 19-year-old to go out and get some first-team experience elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Fulham striker Matt Smith has agreed personal terms with Rangers, after the clubs agreed on a fee, which could rise to £1million.

The 27-year-old, who has scored nine goals in 53 appearances for the Whites, will undergo a medical tomorrow.
