QPR boss Ian Holloways says the club have had no option but to sell wantaway playmaker Tjaronn Chery and has stressed he only wants players who want to play for the club to remain at Loftus Road beyond this month’s transfer window.

Chery is set to leave the Championship side for a lucrative move to Chinese club Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng, and Holloway, clearly unimpressed with the Dutchman’s sudden decision to depart W12, says he had little option but to let the 28-year-old leave.

He told the Times: “He didn’t want to be here, so don’t even ask me about him.

“If he didn’t want to be here and he wants to go to China for zillions of quid a week then good luck to him, what can I do about that?

“I’m going to fill that void with someone who wants to be here. There’s going to be a few people leaving and a few coming in very shortly - that’s part and parcel of football.

“Over the last couple of weeks he wasn’t playing well anyway and our form started to dip and we were losing when he was playing.

“Some of the fans got fed up with him and started having a go at him and he couldn’t handle the pressure.

“The pressure on on you when you’re as good as him is tough. It’s all about a challenge now and who we can get.

“It’s not about where you get them from and how much you’re going to pay for them.

“I don’t want a young lad here who were are paying all sorts of zillions of quid until he’s 31 – that doesn’t make sense does it?”
