Powerday Hooks ABC will see two of their fighters go for glory at the National Association of Boys’ & Girls’ Club Championship finals in Yorkshire on Saturday.
Tidy O’Donnell booked his place in the 60kg final at Bridlington with a superb display against Harry Roberts (Maelor ABC).
Three-time national champion and European bronze medalist O’Donnell forced his rival to take a standing eight count in the second round, using his accuracy and speed of punch for a unanimous points win.
And he will be joined in Yorkshire by two-time national champion and fellow England international Patrice Mughalzai, who got a bye for second week running, while assistant coach Obi Ekbunike makes his professional debut at York Hall on Friday.
Coach Steve Newland said: “To have Tidy and Patrice boxing in their fifth national final is a tribute to their talent and an honour for Powerday Hooks. And everyone wishes Obi every success with his pro career on another big weekend for the club.”
