JAYNE Paine enjoyed two successes in two days as Willesden CC's smartly-attired riders brushed off their collective cobwebs last weekend.

Club members seemed determined to do their new green kit proud, with Paine the fastest woman to finish the Finchley Criteriums event at Hillingdon on Saturday.

She was also the fastest woman finisher and first handicap winner at the West London Combined 10-mile event at Maidenhead the following day, clocking 27 mins 39 secs.

Paine was followed by Ludovica Bruno (28:00), Joanne Austin (29:21) and debutant Alys Matthew (29:42).

Ed Packard (24:07) and Richard Jerome (24:16) - who had also taken fourth place in the third category at Hillingdon the previous day - both finished in the top 10 out of a field of 82.

Other finishers were Surendra Patel (26:32 and second handicap award), Chris James (28:17), Brian Moon (30:34) and 77-year-old Ron Purdy, the oldest rider in the event (36:00).
