Pupils at Brent’s Elsley Primary School enjoyed a special visit from Olympic gold medalist Lily Owsley MBE last week.

Owsley, who helped Great Britain’s women win the hockey competition at the Rio 2016 Games, gave a training session to children from Elsley and Kilburn Park School, alongside coaches from Harrow hockey Club, and an assembly to nearly 200 youngsters.

PE leader Alex Wilke said: “Lily shared her sporting stories and some of the lessons she has learned in her international career and the children took advantage of an informal Q&A, finding out everything from Lily’s favourite food (pizza) to what it feels like to represent Great Britian.

“One boy was particularly excited to win Lily’s old hockey stick in a quick quiz! It was inspiring day for the children, raising the aspirations of our budding athletes.”
