HAMMERSMITH'S George Groves made it six wins out of six as he saw off Tadas Jonkus inside four rounds on Friday in Sunderland.

The Lithuanian had never been stopped in his eight previous fights, but was unable to deal with a barrage of blows from Groves and referee Gary Williams stepped in to halt the contest.

"I felt really good and I'm happy to get the stoppage," said the 21-year-old super-middleweight. "You can't just bombard these guys - it's about feinting and trying to break the guy down and break his spirit more than anything."

Groves put in a tidy performance, settling behind his jab and landing a number of body shots before breaching the Lithuanian's defence with a stinging right-hander in the second round.

Another couple of lefts to the body kept Jonkus on the defensive and he was soon pinned in the corner by a succession of powerful blows from the 'Saint'.

Jonkus survived another Groves onslaught at the start of the fourth round, but was soon back in the corner, desperately doing his best to cover up and the end came soon afterwards.

Groves is back in action on November 7, when he fights overseas for the first time as a professional on the undercard of the David Haye vs Nikolay Valuev world heavyweight title clash in Nuremberg.
