Amateur team Baker Street Buttonhookers are one step closer to a dream trip to the Super Bowl after winning the southern final of the Jacksonville Jaguars Se7ens Cup on Saturday.
The Buttonhookers came out on top in a competition that included 32 teams at The Hive and will now face northern winners Massflag Allstars in the grand final at Allianz Park on September 22.
That match will be played after the Jaguars’ last training session there ahead of their clash with Baltimore Ravens at Wembley Stadium on September 24.
The Buttonhookers took the crown with a 14-6 final win over London Rebels and captain Vince Machi said: “The competition was tough as the talent level was so high but for us it went as well as we could have ever hoped.
“We’ve got a tough task against the Massflag Allstars but we’re looking forward to the final and we’re really excited to be one step away from the Super Bowl.”
