Neasden ABC’s Youssef Khoumari sealed his spot in the North West London finals with victory over Finchley’s Mohamed Garib on Sunday.

The 19-year-old won via an unanimous decision as he advanced through to the next stage of the English Elite National Championships at Hayes Working Mens Club, which takes place on Thursday night.

Khoumari used his jab and combinations to real effect, as well as establishing strong head movements to avoid attacks from his opponent.

Khoumari’s coach Xavier Miller said on the victory: “I’m happy with the consistency Youssef has shown this whole season.

“That has been really encouraging as he continues to go from strength to strength.”

Fellow coach Nicholas Prempeh added: “I was impressed with the maturity Youssef showed during the bout.

“He controlled proceedings throughout the fight in front of a loud and passionate crowd.”

Khoumari is now up against Northolt’s Jack Brooker in his region’s area final.

Should he be successful in that bout, he will compete in the London finals on 17th April.
