Neasden ABC’s Youssef Khoumari came away from the Copenhagen vs London tournament with all the plaudits after being named best boxer on the night.
The 19-year-old, competing in the 29th bout of his amateur boxing career to date, put on an excellent display to win on points.
His Neasden ABC team-mate Delroy Dapaa was unfortunate to lose on a split decision – a verdict that was booed by the Danish crowd, with the majority believing the 25-year-old had edged the bout.
The duo met former Danish boxer and four-time super-middleweight world champion Mikkel Kessler, who was working as a commentator on the night.
Head coaches Xavier Miller and Nicholas Prempeh gave their reaction to the Times, saying: “We’re immensely proud of both our boxers. They fought tremendously hard and were a credit to our boxing club.”
Miller added: “It was an amazing achievement for Youssef to not only win his bout, but to receive the best boxer of the night accolade. He’s come a long way and keeps on improving.”
Miller was part of the London coaching team for the second time alongside Mark Reigate, head coach of Fitzroy Lodge ABC.
