Former Dale Youth ABC amateur Micky O’Rourke secured a fifth professional victory on Saturday night as he won a pulsating six-round clash against Danny Parsons on points at York Hall.
O’Rourke, competing on Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Promotion in Bethnal Green, produced a relentless performance to eventually get the better of Parsons, which only further highlighted the lightweight’s potential.
At the end of the bout referee Jeff Hinds scored the fight in the Irishman’s favour by 58 points to 57.
Following the fight the 26-year-old told the Times: “I didn’t have the best preparation coming into the fight as I suffered a cut eye in the build-up, so it restricted my training a little but I was happy on the whole with my performance.
“I didn’t know anything about him coming into it, that’s actually one of the things that pleased me as I think I showed that I can just deal with whatever is put in front of me.

“I know I’m still learning. I should have used my jab and kept him at range more but you learn from every fight.
“I’m just waiting to hear if I’m back out in December and I just want to take each fight as it comes for now.
