Former Dale Youth amateur Deion Jumah is the new Southern Area cruiserweight champion following his fifth round-stoppage of Willdesden’s Ossie Jervier on Saturday.

Jumah and Jervier met on a packed Goodwin show that was held at the iconic York Hall in Bethnal Green.

Ex-Dale Youth man Jumah was quicker with his hands and had the faster footwork, which helped him control the bout.

The telling blows came in the fifth when after getting up after being floored by one combination, Jervier was in trouble again on the ropes under a flurry of punches.

Referee Bob Williams intervened to hand Jumah the title and his 11th win in as many bouts since turning pro in 2013, while Jervier’s record now shows six victories and six defeats.

Wembley lightweight Youssef Khoumari was also a winner on the bill, beating Dave Birmingham of Portsmouth with a sixth-round stoppage.

Kingsbury light welterweight Jerome Campbell, meanwhile, outpointed Devon rival Jamie Speight on the Goodwin card.
