Gilligan digs deep to give QPH a boost

ANDREW Gilligan continued his improvement as he led Queen s Park Harriers home in 26th place in their Chiltern League match at Slough. Gilligan has been gradually moving up the field of late and clocked a creditable time of 33 minutes 19 seconds at Slough

ANDREW Gilligan continued his improvement as he led Queen's Park Harriers home in 26th place in their Chiltern League match at Slough.

Gilligan has been gradually moving up the field of late and clocked a creditable time of 33 minutes 19 seconds at Slough as QPH finished ninth overall.

Joe Sinclair was next home for QPH in 35th place (34:28), while over-50 runner Frank Nolan continued his climb up the field to finish 39th (35:02).

Bertie Miller ran well to take 43rd place (35:40), while Andy Angus showed glimpses of his best in 49th (36:07) and Wayne Roye had an off day in 64th (37:27).

Richard Davis in 75th (38:32) and Bill O'Connor in 101st (47:17) completed the finishers while, in the women's race, Jacqui Young was 26th (28:05) and Phyllis Sannoh 41st (35:35).

Three QPH athletes took part in the Luton Marathon, with Michael Dmitrzak the first to finish in 34th place with a time of 3:07:37.

Brendan Greene was next home in 68th place (3:14:21), with Joao Diogo finishing 188th (34:40:10).
