Middlesex County League Division One clash with Wilberforce to take place at the home of football

Wembley Stadium will have a new tenant for one game only on Friday as Stonewall FC take their Middlesex County League Division One clash with AFC Wilberforce to the iconic venue.

Stonewall are Britain’s first LGBT football club and the match itself, which is supported by the charity from which the club takes its name, celebrates The FA, which owns Wembley Stadium, becoming a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

The Middlesex County League Division One clash on Friday is one of the highlights of Stonewall’s and TeamPride’s award-winning ‘Rainbow Laces’ campaign.

Last weekend saw sports teams across the country show their support for the campaign by wearing rainbow-coloured laces on their boots, while captains donned special rainbow-coloured armbands and will do so again at matches this weekend

It is hoped Friday’s game between Stonewall and Wilberforce at Wembley is a celebratory affair, while also continuing to raise awareness of the brilliant Rainbow Laces campaign.
