Former Wimbledon man to remain with Stones next season after agreeing new terms

Ricky Wellard will remain a Wealdstone player for at least the next season after agreeing new terms that will take the former Welling United midfielder through to the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

The midfielder moved to Grosvenor Vale last summer from National League South rivals Hemel Hempstead Town.

In his first season with Stones, Wellard scored six goals, including a memorable strike away to Southport in the FA Trophy.

After impressing in his debut campaign, Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett was keen to keep hold of the former AFC Wimbledon man.

Wellard is the latest Stones player to commit to the club ahead of the new season, with fellow midfielder Danny Green also staying at Grosvenor Vale.

It is expected there will be more player news from Wealdstone in the coming weeks as Bartlett looks to build a squad that could well compete at the top of the National League South next season.
