GREG Ngoyi's double propelled Wealdstone into the Ryman League play-off zone for the first time this season - with a little help from their neighbours.

The Stones soared to fifth place by beating bogey side Ashford Town (Middx) 3-1 at Grosvenor Vale and were helped by local rivals Harrow Borough's shock 3-2 win at Carshalton.

And Gordon Bartlett's side are also only two points behind fourth-placed Sutton, who were held to a goal-less draw by Hendon at Vale Farm.

Chris O'Leary volleyed Wealdstone in front after just four minutes and the home side doubled their lead just after half-time when Ngoyi latched onto Davis Haule's flick-on to score.

Ashford reduced the deficit when Gavin Smith's effort was deflected in, but Ngoyi wrapped up the points for Stones 15 minutes from time, heading in after a one-two with Lee Chappell.

HENDON had to settle for a point against Sutton despite dominating the contest, with Sam Collins, Lubo Guentchev and Jamie Busby all denied by visiting keeper Paul Nicholls.

James Bent also went close for the Greens, who had Kevin Maclaren sent off for two yellow card offences.
