It was the club’s third match in seven days and they struggled to get off to a strong start on their trip to New River.

Finding it hard to get their rhythm and string passes together, Saints were outplayed at times.

They were guilty of lingering on the ball too long, which created frustration in the team, and it was 0-0 at the break with neither side creating many chances.

A stern half-time team talk from manager George Frangeskou did the trick for Saints, though, as Nick Salapatas scored within one minute of the restart to give them the lead.

A few more chances came and went, with Saints feeling more in control, before a home player received a red card for poor discipline.

Salapatas thought he had netted his second goal of the match, but it was deemed offside, as Saints managed to see out the game and claim the points.
