SOUTH KILBURN 3

WILLESDEN CONSTANTINE 1

SOUTH Kilburn finished their season in style by beating local rivals Willesden Constantine and securing second place in the final league standings.

Mick Jennings' side had been in the hunt for the Middlesex County League title, but back-to-back defeats against Constantine and Bethnal Green United left them five points adrift of leaders Indian Gymkhana.

The championship may have been out of reach last Thursday but Kilburn bounced back to gain revenge for their damaging defeat against Willesden two weeks ago.

Scott Nelmes opened the scoring when put clean through on goal and Abdi Youssef doubled the advantage with a free kick.

Cons pulled a goal back in the second half but Ray Frazer slotted home to restore Kilburn's two-goal cushion.

"It was a good performance from the team after our two previous defeats," said Jennings. "We proved we can bounce back and put in the effort when we need to.

"I'm pleased that we've finished second but at the same time disappointed because I feel we threw away the league.
