EXCLUSIVE: Sandro says QPR must start raising their game if they want to be in the hunt for promotion come the end of the season.
The Brazilian midfielder, who was making his first start of the season, was one of few bright points on a day to forget for Chris Ramsey’s men as they surrendered a one-goal lead before falling to a 2-1 defeat at Birmingham on Saturday.
He told the Times: “It’s very disappointing. We must do better than this, it’s just not good enough.
“When we scored the first goal we had to make sure we were on top of the game after that and get the win but we didn’t do that.
“It’s not individual mistakes which are costing us, it’s collectively. We need to do a lot better as a team and turn this situation around quickly.
“Every single match is important in this league and we now have two home games to get ourselves back on track.
“We have a good squad with a lot of quality players, but we need to start showing that if we want to be up the top of the division.”
Elsewhere, the 26-year-old, who had a summer to forget after visa issues restricted him from entering the UK until the end of August, says he is now fighting fit and champing at the bit for regular first-team football with the Rs.
He added: “I’m feeling good for the season now. It was a difficult summer for myself but I am fully focused now and ready to play for this team.
“I think the manager wanted to give me a rest in this game (substituted with 18 minutes remaining).
“But the next game I want play the full 90 minutes and help the team get the three points. This is a testing period for us all and one where we need to stay together.”
