Chris Ramsey expects QPR's forgotten man Sandro to return to his first-team squad before the end of the transfer window.
The Brazilian midfielder has been unable to enter the UK following an issue with his visa which prevented him from playing in the final three games of last season’s ill-fated Premier League campaign as Rangers were relegated.
The west London club mistakenly forgot to renew Sandro’s sponsorship licence back in December last year, resulting in it then being suspended by the Home Office, but it has since been reinstated.
The 26-year-old, who cost £6million from Tottenham in August 2014, has been residing in his native Brazil ever since, awaiting updates.
But Rs head coach Ramsey is hopeful of having Sandro back at the club’s Harlington training base before the end of the month.
Ramsey said: “There’s a time difference so sometimes if we don’t speak directly he leaves me a voice message and I either leave him one, but we’re in contact.
“His last message is that he was fit and training and ready to be involved. We need to get this initial part of the situation sorted out first though and evaluate it after that.
“As long as he’s up to fitness of the other players he’ll go straight into the squad, though.
“I would expect him to be back here before the transfer window closes, but these red tape things can take time.”
Sandro’s long-term future at Loftus Road nonetheless, with Ramsey admitting that the midfield general may look for a move away from the Championship club.
He added: “Any player who has played in the Premier League will always have their eye on it.
“But he’s a QPR player and there’s people who have stuck their neck out to bring him here and shown a lot of faith in him, as well as the fact the club paid a lot of money to sign him in the first place.
“As long he’s not wanted by another club that will ease the financial burden on us, he’ll come into the squad and do his best for us, I’m sure.”
