Championship outfit QPR to host special game on September 2 with proceeds going to survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster

Queens Park Rangers will host a special match at Loftus Road on September 2 to help raise funds for the survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster.

The #Game4Grenfell is the brainchild of QPR chairman Tony Fernandes, director of football Les Ferdinand and Columbia Records’ Ferdy Unger-Hamilton.

The fixture will see two teams consisting of ex-pros, such as Ferdinand, Trevor Sinclair, David Seaman, Andy Sinton and Alan Shearer, and celebrities, including Marcus Mumford, Olly Murs and Tinie Tempah, take part.

Former Rs striker Peter Crouch will also be in action alongside friend and firefighter Gregg Jules, who was directly involved in the relief effort.

Tickets for the game will be priced at £15 for adults and £5 for concessions and can be brought here.

The money raised from ticket sales and other fundraising initiatives around the event will be passed directly to the London Community Foundation for allocation to the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund, distributing funds to survivors and the wider community affected by the fire.

“As someone who grew up in the area, personally this is incredibly close to my own heart and having spoken to Tony, he was also keen to continue the work we’ve done in the community since the fire,” said Ferdinand.

“A game, giving something back to the people of west London, seemed like the obvious thing to do, and thanks to QPR, Toast Entertainment Group and Columbia Records, the idea of a #Game4Grenfell was born.”
