QPR forward could feature for National Elephants in World Cup qualifiers next month
Queens Park Rangers striker Idrissa Sylla has been called up to the Guinea squad for their World Cup qualifier next month.
The National Elephants will host current Group A leaders Tunisia at the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry on October 7.
However, with just two games remaining in qualification, Guinea already know they cannot reach next summer’s competition in Russia as they sit seven points behind the Eagles of Carthage.
Sylla is the latest QPR player to be called up for international duty following Yeni Ngbakoto and Kazenga LuaLua (both Congo DR), Pawel Wszolek (Poland) and Conor Washington (Northern Ireland).
Since making his debut for Guinea in 2012, Sylla has featured 22 times for his country in total, scoring five goals.
So far this season for QPR, the 26-year-old has featured eight times in all competitions, though has scored just the once – a stoppage-time winner at home to Hull City in August.
