EXCLUSIVE: Nedum Onuoha is loving life at QPR and the newly-elected captain has his mind set on inspiring his team-mates to glory.

Onuoha, who recently passed the 100 game mark for the Rs, wants to be viewed as a role model within Chris Ramsey’s new-look Championship side.

He told the Times: “A few players in the team have looked up to me before and hopefully now I can help them and the rest of the team to go on and achieve big things.

“I’ve played over 100 games already for this club, and that’s as far as long-term comes. This is my home and I love it here.”

Rangers launched a stunning second-half comeback to secure their first league win of the season in a 3-2 success at Wolves on Wednesday night.

Prior to that victory Onuoha insists the squad weren’t worried about their slow start to the campaign, but conceded the win over Kenny Jackett’s side was a pleasing one.

He added: “There’s so many games in the Championship and all you need is a couple of wins to put you right at the top.

“Your destiny isn’t necessarily decided by how you start the season in this division, but it’s obviously important to get that first win on the board as soon as possible, which we have done now.

“If we cut out those mistakes we’ve made so far I can see us having a productive season.”

The Rs will be eyeing a first home success of the season when they host Rotherham United on Saturday, in a game which is being dedicated to club legend Stan Bowles, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Onuoha knows only too well the statue Bowles holds among Rangers fans, and says it will only urge the squad on more to cap off the day with a victory.

“It’s an added incentive. I’m sure it’s going to be an emotional day so we want to make sure we put in a big performance and top the day off with a positive result and pick up our first home win of the season,” he said.
