Rs boss was disappointed his team did not score in defeat to Norwich City in Sky Bet Championship on Saturday
Steve McClaren will hope Queens Park Rangers can find the net when they visit Blackpool in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
The Rs failed to trouble the scorers in a 1-0 defeat at home to Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.
Speaking after that game, the former England boss expressed his frustration at his team’s inability to find the net against the Canaries.
But QPR boss McClaren believes his team has the players to be able to score on a regular basis.
“We’ve got to score, and we’ve enough quality in the team to score — why we lost is because we didn’t score,” said McClaren following the loss to Norwich.
“It’s simple. I could have written the script before the game. It was one of those games (where it would end goalless) unless someone produces that bit of quality.
“I thought it would be us with the quality we have in the team, but we didn’t score and that disappointed me.”
Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips, meanwhile, says his side will be looking to claim the scalp of a Championship side in the cup.
The Tangerines have had a solid, if unspectacular, start to the Sky Bet League One season and currently sit eighth.
The Bloomfield Road outfit have already beaten divisional rivals Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers in the cup this term, but McPhillips is now looking to knock out a team from the tier above.
He told the Blackpool FC website: “It’s a big game and we want to win, as I’m sure they do. It’s going to be a hard game because they’re a team in the Championship.
“It’s another opportunity for some of the lads to stake a claim and an opportunity to get in the next round. We’ll be doing our best to win the game.”
