Tom Carroll could return from injury to feature in QPR’s home clash with Charlton Athletic after the international break.

Midfielder Carroll joined Rangers on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day, but suffered an ankle injury playing for England Under-21s last month.

That injury ruled the 21-year-old out of QPR’s last five matches as he returned to Spurs for treatment, but Harry Redknapp revealed that his recovery is progressing well, and he may be fit for the visit of Charlton on November 23.

“Tom is still a few weeks away from full fitness,” said the Rangers boss. “It will be before Christmas, hopefully when we come back after the international break.”

Meanwhile, Redknapp remains keen to send young striker Tom Hitchcock out on loan. Hitchcock has been scoring freely for the club’s elite development squad, and the QPR manager is keen to get the youngster more first-team experience.

He added: “I’d like to get him out on loan somewhere, he needs to get out and play and step up a division. Maybe League One or lower Championship, I think he would do well and it would be good experience for him.”
