Adam Hamdi scored both goals as Kingsbury’s Year 8 side gained revenge for last year’s defeat to Claremont in the Brent Schools Cup final.

Kingsbury suffered a 4-1 loss to Claremont in 2012, but ensured there would be no repeat of that result as they quickly took control of the match.

The breakthrough came on 25 minutes, when Ashlee Hibbert received the ball on the left wing and sped past three opponents before delivering a cross for Hamdi to flick past the Claremont goalkeeper.

Solid defending ensured that Kingsbury held their lead at half-time, but Claremont fought back after the break and levelled with a free-kick that swerved around the wall into the net.

Kingsbury restored their lead almost immediately as Hibbert drove down the line and sent over another pinpoint cross for Hamdi to net his second goal with a diving header.

Claremont pressed hard for an equaliser as the minutes ticked away, but last-ditch defending from Jermaine Denny and Joshua Machado and some vital saves by goalkeeper Hayden Graham enabled Kingsbury to hold on and clinch the trophy.

Kingsbury High: Weber, M Ali, McLeod, Mogre, Machado, Aouidef, Hibbert, Hussain, Selmani, Hamdi, Denny, Byrne, N Ali, Hassan, Graham.
