THREE matches in a day will get the Jason Roberts Independent Football Academy up and running later this week at The Pavilion, Stonebridge Park.
The Academy, which was launched last month, are putting out teams at under-10, under-12 and under-14 level to play against Norwich City’s junior teams on Thursday (starting from 11am).
Former Canaries players Ade Akinbiyi and Damien Francis will be attending, along with representatives of Invest in Brazil, Wallace Cameron and Herbalife – all sponsors and partners of the Academy, which was set up by the Jason Roberts Foundation to provide coaching and life skills for youngsters.
Eugene Dwaah, the former head of recruitment at Fulham, has been appointed head coach at Jason Roberts IFA, who are holding open trials on the two days following the Norwich matches.
The trials on Friday are for players between under-12 and under-15 level, with under-sixes to under-11s welcome the next day at The Pavilion (nearest tube stations are Harlesden or Stonebridge Park).
Registration on both days is 9-9.45am, with trials due to begin at 10am. For details, email email@example.com
The Jason Roberts Foundation – set up by the Blackburn striker, who grew up in Stonebridge Park – are also staging a match in Watford next month to raise the profile of wheelchair football.
