HENDON under-16s suffered a frustrating defeat to Pitshanger on Sunday despite holding a comfortable lead for much of the match.

The Greens produced some of their best football of the season at Copthall in the Harrow Youth League, but fell away disappointingly after the interval to slip to a 4-2 defeat.

Anthony Tang gave Hendon a deserved 18th-minute lead, slotting home from the penalty spot after Zola Msimanga was fouled in the penalty area.

The lead was shortlived, as Pitshanger hit back with an equaliser seven minutes later. But Hendon responded in kind, and were back in front by half time when Sharif Malik set up Jordan Rowe for his first Hendon goal.

The Dons appeared set for a comfortable win, but they were caught cold early in the second half, when Pitshanger grabbed a second equaliser.

From that point, there was only ever one winner, and Pitsghanger edged ahead for the first time. Five minutes from time, a fourth Pitshanger goal put the game out of Hendon's reach.
