Greens beat Staines Town in league on Tuesday after losing against Biggleswade Town in FA Trophy last weekend

Hendon will aim to build on a five-star performance in midweek when they visit Tiverton Town in the Evo-Stik South Premier South on Saturday.

The Greens collected a 5-1 win at home to Staines Town in the league on Tuesday night, thanks in part to a hat-trick from Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick.

James Gray’s men took the lead in the 23rd minute through Connor Calcutt, who added his second in the 47th minute.

Hippolyte-Patrick then netted in both the 54th and 63rd minute to extend the Silver Jubilee Park club’s advantage.

Though Staines pulled one back through Ryan Khanye in the 79th minute, Hippolyte-Patrick restored Hendon’s four-goal lead when completing his hat-trick two minutes later.

On his goalscoring heroics, Hippolyte-Patrick later told the club website: “I’d never scored a hat-trick in my senior career before, so that was my first one and I was happy to get it.”

“I’ve got 10 goals now in 13 games this season, which is the best form of my career.”

The win over Staines was a tremendous response from Hendon after suffering late heartbreak in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

At home to Biggleswade Town in the second qualifying round, Hippolyte-Patrick scored to put the Greens ahead in the 48th minute.

Gray’s men, though suffered a blow with 12 minutes remaining when defender Adam Pepera was sent off.

Biggleswade made the most of their man advantage almost immediately with Tom Smith levelling the scores in the 79th minute.

There was to be further heartbreak for the Silver Jubilee Park club in the final minute of normal time when Joe White, who spent time on loan at Hendon last season, netted to put the Waders ahead.

Thankfully, the Greens were able to quickly move on from that disappointment by getting the better of Staines in midweek.

And Gray will hope his side can follow that up with a success at Tiverton on Saturday as Hippolyte-Patrick bids to maintain his hot streak in front of goal for the Silver Jubilee Park side.
