CELTIC suffered their worst league defeat in several years at the hands of Middlesex Junior Cup holders Conways at Copthall on Sunday.

And to add insult to misery, it was a pair of ex-Celtic players who grabbed the goals - and the points - for the visitors.

A brace each from Gareth Coffey and strike partner James Espirit was enough to earn Conways the win as the Burnt Oak side underlined their title credentials.

Celtic's rock solid defence of last season has been severely weakened by the loss of defenders Ryan Fortune and Philip Morgan due to knee injuries.

They were sorely missed at the weekend, and Conways took full advantage with an impressive display of passing and clinical finishing.

For Broadway Celtic it's a case of back to the drawing board as they aim to get their season going ahead of next Sunday's Middlesex Premier Cup tie against Ruislip Royals.

Broadway Celtic: Caffery, N Gordon, D Gordon, Edson, Wallace, Carroll, Kelly, O'Leary, Hayes, Mcloughlin, Fitzpatrick. Subs: Butler, Conway, Brennan.
