Under-11s Brent Cup final: St Robert Southwell 1 Byron Court 0

St Robert Southwell under-11s took home the Brent Cup after a 1-0 win over Byron Court in the final.

After a bright start to the match that saw them create a number of chances, St Robert Southwell took the lead with a fine finish in the 12th minute.

The game remained finely balanced after the goal, but had St Robert Southwell taken one of the numerous chances they created, they could have increased their lead before half-time.

The second half was played at a frantic pace with both teams going for it in their quest to win the cup.

However, 10-time winners Byron Court could not find a route back into the match as St Robert Southwell replicated their success from the 2003/04 season.

“A big thank you to Mr Woodford and Wykeham Primary for hosting the final,” said a tournament spokesperson.

Previous winners of the competition include England and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, so who knows what this year’s crop of victors can achieve.
