WILLESDEN Legionaire gave manager Chris Fleming the perfect parting gift as they beat Kings United 1-0 to lift the Hendon & District League Challenge Cup on Sunday.

Fleming is stepping down after three years in charge - during which the club have been both league champions and runners-up and reached three cup finals.

And Fleming's team did him proud with a spirited performance on Sunday at Townsend Lane, Kingsbury.

Duncan Dwyer headed the only goal of the game in the first half, while Gerald Kearns put in a man of the match display and goalkeeper Richard Ireson thwarted Kings with some superb shot-stopping.

Legionaire: Ireson, Kearns, Jones, P Chamberlain, M Chamberlain, Dorgan, Simmons, McDonald, Dwyer, Lyham, French. Subs: Swift, Sweeney, Beehan, Pravitt.
