Brent send two teams to the St Albans Schools’ FA Football Festival

The Brent under-11 boys’ football ‘A’ team gave a good account of themselves at the St Albans Schools’ FA Football Festival.

The ‘A’ team comprised of Joe Barrett, Rudy Blue, Le’Kai Chevannes, Naeem Giscombe, Troy Kelly, Casper Lindner, Armend Muslika, Tyreece Pollendine, Fabian Prela, Dhyan Sharma, Jack Somers, Bernardo Zaniuncio and Zak Zebiri.

Brent began with a 1-0 win over Wokingham, last season’s national champions, after Prela scored a late winner.

The borough boys then lost 2-0 to Newbury, before Giscombe netted a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Woking B that also saw Kelly net.

Chevannes netted the winning goal for Brent in their final game, a 1-0 victory over St Albans Blues.

“It was a fantastic day out for all the boys who played out of their skins with a style of play that was both effective and refreshing,” said coach Paul Woodford.

The ‘B’ team were also in action at the event, drawing 0-0 with Stevenage and St Albans, beating Woking 1-0, but losing 4-0 to Dacorum.

The under-11 boys’ team next face Dartford, while the girls’ under-12 squad hope to build on last season’s success in the London Super Cup when they play their first fixture in the Camden & Regents Park League.

*Trials for the Brent under-12 and under-15 teams will be held this Saturday at Capital City academy from 12-2pm.
