The Brent under-12 girls’ football team collected arguably their best result of the season so far with a 5-3 success over their Arsenal counterparts.

The match was played at the Arsenal Hub, which is located close to the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium home.

Though Arsenal took the lead, Brent soon hit back when Scout Waddington intercepted a loose pass before smashing home.

The Gunners were able to regain their advantage, but Waddington nabbed her second of the match on the stroke of half-time to send the team into the break level at 2-2.

Arsenal moved ahead for the third time in the match after the restart, only for Waddington to complete her hat-trick and level the score once more.

Waddington then added her fourth to put Brent ahead for the first time, before Giussepina Carnevale rounded out the scoring.

“The team showed great character and courage to come back,” said coach Chris Ampofo.

“A huge thank you to Arsenal for giving Brent the opportunity to come to the stadium. It was a great experience and the team really enjoyed it.”

Brent: O’Donoghue, Ulusele, Dibley-Dias, Rosenberg, Waddington, Margetson, Kew, Lewis, Ferreira, Easterby, Blue, McIntosh, Mir, Carnevale.

*The Brent under-11 boys’ football team collected a 3-2 victory away to Barking & Dagenham in the group stages of the Lester Finch Trophy.

Goals from Troy Kelly and Conor Moore fired Brent into a 2-1 half-time lead against Barking.

Kelly then added a second after the interval and though Barking pulled one back, Brent held on to win.

Brent: Barrett, Kelly, Lindner, Lovell, Moore, Muslika, Pollendine, Prela, Selmani, Sharma, Somers, Zanuncio, Zebiri.

*Several Brent youngsters shone for the Middlesex boys’ under-14 football team as they recorded a 6-1 success over Barnet.

There was not such good for the Middlesex under-15 and under-16 sides, though, as they both lost their respective games against Surrey.

*Brent youngster Louis Roberts-Keane helped Grenada finish third behind Mexico and Jamaica qualification group for the Under-20 World Cup.
