Running Community aim to tackle physical and mental health issues
A group of local women are trying to inspire others in Brent to get fit and enjoy good physical and mental health.
The Fly Girls Running Community is a free fitness activity for women and girls over 14 years to walk, jog or run that meets every Sunday morning in the Civic Centre at 9am for a run around Wembley Stadium.
An additional session is to be held during the Spring/Summer season with the aim of encouraging beginners to start running – or just walk initially – and tackle obesity in young people in the borough.
The committee hope to have intervention plans for physical and mental wellbeing, as well as health-wellness workshops and coaching alongside physical activity for good mental health.
Spokesperson Amanda Ray Epe said: “We aim to enter the Colour Run in Wembley on June 11 and are working towards this goal.
“This is an achievement for participants who some were non-runners when they joined. We welcome new members in the community to this fun, friendly and free activity.”
