Willesden fencer Yasmine Fosu has added to her ever-growing medal collection by taking bronze at the Under-20 Junior African Championships.

Fosu, who competes internationally for Ghana, travelled to the Nigerian city of Lagos for the event.

After a string of impressive displays, Fosu was able to place third in her category to collect her eighth African Championships medal and ensure there was a bronze medal in her luggage for the journey back

After returning home, Fosu then took part in the British Schools’ Championships, which were held at Crystal Palace.

Fosu finished the event as ‘Champion at Arms’ and also captained a squad of nearly 50 young fencers to glory in the team event.

The attention for Fosu now switches to the Commonwealth Championships, which take place in the autumn.

And if Fosu can continue to impress like she has done so far in 2018, there is no reason why she cannot medal there too.
