The latest boxing news from Brent

Former Dale Youth amateur Daniel Dubois has been forced to withdraw from his bout against Razvan Cojanu on Saturday with flu.

The heavyweight had been matched with the Romanian former world title challenger in a bout that topped a Frank Warren show, which will still be shown live on BT Sport.

In Dubois’ most recent fight, the 21-year-old was taken the distance for the first time in his career by veteran American Kevin Johnson.

Dubois dominated the bout against Johnson and did not lose a single round on his way to securing a comprehensive points win.

The ex-Dale Youth amateur had hoped to continue his winning form by getting the better of Cojanu, but has now been ruled out through illness.

It is a disappointing end to the calendar year for the 21-year-old, who had been hoping to finish it on a high by getting the better of Cojanu.

Dubois will hope to return to the ring nice and early in 2019 as he looks to continue his development in the professional ranks.the ring.
