Former Dale Youth amateur James DeGale has hinted at a return to the ring in early January 2019 with a post on social media site Twitter late last week.
Last Thursday, the two-time former super middleweight world champion posted a picture of himself lifting weights with the caption: “Laying the foundations for a proper performance early next year.”
That post appears to put an end to speculation linking the 2008 Olympic champion to another fight before the end of the calendar year.
The 32-year-old had been mooted as a possible opponent for fellow Brit Chris Eubank Jr., but it now looks like any fight between the pair will take place next year.
DeGale’s most recent fight was in September when he stopped Fidel Munoz in the third round of their contest in California.
Prior to that bout, the 32-year-old had relinquished his IBF world title with a view to earning more lucrative fights.
