BRENT'S boys' team marginally missed out on qualifying for the indoor cricket finals, as the 2009 London Youth Games got under way last weekend.

They made the best possible start against Barnet at Harrow Leisure Centre, scoring 123-3 before bowling their opponents out for 54.

Unfortunately, in their next game, Brent were bowled out for 70, as Hounslow reached their target with just two overs to spare.

In their final game against Kensington and Chelsea, Brent won by 21 runs, having made 81 all out before dispatching their opponents for 60.

It was not enough to see them through - but Brent, managed by Wembley CC duo John Haskell and Ullash Karia - can look to build on a very worthwhile experience.

The borough's girls' team compete in their own Balfour Beatty London Youth Games tournament later this month.

Brent: Hussain (capt), Choudry, Dadhania, Majood, Somani, Sumaria, Assani, Satkumanathan, Patel, Jethwa.
